Shantael comes to us with a wealth of organizational, event coordinating and staff supervision skills from her years as a Community Recreation Coordinator with Community and Neighborhood Services in Calgary, Alberta. In her own words, “I am drawn to the Moss Street Market Coordinator Position for the overarching commitment to environmental and community responsibility and sustainability practices.”
I doesn’t hurt that Shantael has taken a variety of courses in a Conflict Management Program with an emphasis on Alternatives in Dispute Resolution and Critical Skills for Communication in Conflict. Of course, she won’t be needing those skills at the Moss Street Market because as every vendor knows: there is never a disagreement.
Shantael is a practicing visual artist and has exhibited in various public and private art exhibitions across Canada. She has worked as a vendor in two of Alberta’s Farmers Markets supporting the efforts of a local organic farm and on creating and selling her own silver wire jewelry.
Shantael brings an artists sensibility and the skills of an exceptionally well organized manager to the role of Moss Street Market Coordinator and we feel very lucky that she has agreed to join us this year.

Our 2010 Market Coordinator
George Colussi’s letters of recommendation were so full of superlatives it was at first hard to believe someone with his passion, experience and leadership abilities – not to mention his technical expertise – was applying for our MSM Coordinator’s job. Here are just a few comments we received on George’s skills and gifts:
From the Ministry of Citizens’ Services
George was a confident, empathetic and innovative leader in his position as our Business Planning Analyst and team leader. He encouraged through provoking discussions and was capable of taking a step back to see the bigger picture which helped to keep the team in check and proved how much of an asset he was to our team.
From the Victoria Conservatory of Music
George is approachable, discrete, compassionate, caring and very committed. George has demonstrated his willingness to work long and hard to complete tasks and projects, but all of this with a smile and extremely good humour.
From the Boys and Girls Club of Nanaimo
“I’ve never seen such outstanding achievement from such an unassuming, modest person,” Fraser, told me. “It’s as though his whole motivation is just to make the world a better place. The more you get to know him, the deeper and truer you find him to be. He’s taken the club from an organization that was struggling to achieve its goals to one that’s charting new territory and marching forward.”
In our first few meetings, George has already displayed his wealth of ideas and critical knowledge with regards to staff hiring and supervision, fiscal responsibility and budgeting, fund raising, special events development, and working harmoniously with all members of the community. We are delighted that George has joined the MSM and we look forward to the 2010 Market Season with excitement and renewed energy. Be sure to join us at the March 27th Annual General Meeting for George’s formal introduction to our Market community!
